Catbalogan receives child-friendly seal for 2014 and 2015

Catbalogan City receives “Seal for Child-Friendly Local Governance” for 2014 and 2015 conferred by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Council for the Welfare of Children and from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
 
Awarding was made last February 24, 2016 at Tacloban City and said awards were received by Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan along with City Social Welfare and Development Officer, Ms. Nida Aroza.
 
“It feels good to be able to slowly give hope to our children for it’s a fact that our children is our future. As a mother of two and the mother of Catbalogan City, I’m inspired to do my best for my children and to all the children of my beloved City, our city — Catbalogan City” shares Mayor Step.
 
The said award is given to LGUs which have passed the evaluation and audit phase conducted by the Inter-Agency Monitoring Task Force (IMTF) of local programs ensuring safety, good health care and growth of children so that they grow up as potential productive and healthy citizens of our country.

City underwent training on refocusing its development plan

The City Government of Catbalogan has recently underwent a seminar-workshop to formulate the City’s Comprehensive Development Plan as conducted by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Regional Office 8 last February 18-19, 2016 at Leyte Park Hotel, Tacloban City.

Attendees of said workshop were department heads of the city along with sectoral representatives such as from Catbalogan Water District, Samar Provincial Hospital, Samar State University, BFAR, Philippine National Police, Catbalogan Bankers’ Club, SAMELCO 2, SCCI, DTI-Samar, among others.

Titled as “CDP: Revisiting of Focus LGU’s Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives” was aimed at consolidating all long term plans of each city department along with the identified community and national agency sectors to update the city’s CDP.

The CDP is a guide to the growth and development of each local government unit setting forth its development vision, policies and an implementation plan anchored on the idea that a comprehensive planning is the foundation for quality growth management.
