Advocates and pageant winners assemble Manaragat Organization

Determined to organize themselves as an official group, former winners and candidates of Mister Manaragat and Miss Manaragat as well as advocates of environmental protection and cultural preservation gathered last October 26, 2019 at Casa Cristina Hotel for their general assembly.

An orientation was also conducted by a representative from the City Environmental and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) on solid waste management while Co-Chair of the Local Culture and Arts Council, Prof. Jhonil Bajado discussed on cultural heritage as part of the twin advocacies of the pageants and now of the new organization.

As part of the assembly, an election was also held among the attendees, which will serve for a year and will be assisted by the City Tourism, Culture, Arts and Information Office (CTCAIO) as they register themselves to accrediting national agencies and plan out their programs and activities.

The Miss Manaragat: The Search for Miss Catbalogan City pageant was first organized in 2007 and the Mister Manaragat: The Search for Mister Catbalogan City in 2014 along with the Queen Manaragat: The Search for Miss Maqueda Gay, which has crowned role models as well as influencers in the advocacies of the Manaragat Festival of Catbalogan City, the city’s official festival.

The newly-created group is now called “Manaragat Organization” and will serve as the city’s partner not just in promoting the twin advocacies among the population but also in the implementation of relevant activities and initiatives.

The membership is still open to interested young people who have not just the heart for the protection of our environment and the preservation of our culture but most importantly the commitment towards the realization and sustainability of the organization.
