Bring Back the Wow in Antiao

With one goal in mind, Catbaloganons were united as one earlier today, September 29, 2018 during the simultaneous coastal cleanup of Antiao River, which officially launched the “Bring Back the WOW of Antiao” project of the city government led by no less than City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan.

The said project is anchored on the “Adopt an Estero / Waterbody Program” of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), which puts emphasis on the collaborative undertaking between estero communities, donors, partners and government agencies to rehabilitate and restore a specific waterbody.

In the case of Antiao, thirteen (13) barangays within the said river have already signed the memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the said sustainability project.

“An paglimpyo han aton Antiao deri la obligasyon han lokal na gobyerno kundi han ngatanan nga mga mulopyo han Catbalogan,” Mayor Step shares.

She further shared that “Catbalogan began as a small fishing community along the banks of Antiao River, and before we can truly be a great city, we must protect and preserve the very origin that shaped us to what we are today.”

From women organizations to senior citizens, students, the sangguniang kabataan and barangay officials, military and uniformed personnel, Catbaloganon worked together as one and we just hope that all through out the yearlong period of this project, we may able to sustain the action towards bringing back the wow in Antiao.
