Catbalogan attends DILG’s LED strategy workshop

Recently, a team of select departments of the City Government of Catbalogan attended the Training on Developing a Sustainable Local Economic Development (LED) Strategy that was organized by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) thru its Local Government Academy (LGA) from September 28-30, 2015 in Manila.

LED4LGUs is an innovative program designed to provide local government units (LGUs) with a solid understanding of the principles and decision tools of LED to assess their local economic opportunities, develop and implement their LED initiatives that will create an enabling environment for retaining businesses and attract investment. As a result, it will create jobs and alleviate poverty in the community.

City departments that attended the said training are from the City Mayor’s Office, City Tourism and Investment Promotion Office, City Economic Enterprise and Public Utility Office, City Agriculture’s Office, City Engineering Office, and from the City Local Government Operations Office as well as a representative from the Civil Society Organization (CSO) Sector.

Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan was personally present actively during the said three-day workshop and presented the Sky City Project bannering the vision of “Catbalogan Sky City: Growing Investments, Greening Communities” as a township LED strategy to bring in more investments to the city while climate-proofing the city from vulnerabilities.
