Catbalogan attends information caravan for 2015 GPBP

Invited and organized by the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Office VIII, local government units within the province of Samar converged at New Maqueda Bay Hotel for the Information Caravan on 2015 Grassroots Participatory Budgeting Process (GPBP) last October 16, 2014.

Discussed during the said caravan were the projects being funded by DA for 2013, 2014 and 2015 under the GPBP, formerly known as the Bottom-Up Budgeting (BuB) Process.

Grassroots Participatory Budgeting (GPB), formerly called Bottom-up Budgeting, is an approach to preparing the budget proposal of agencies, taking into consideration the development needs of cities/municipalities as identified in their respective local poverty reduction action plans (LPRAP) that shall be formulated with strong participation of basic sector organizations and other civil society organizations.

Despite the low turn-out of attendees from different LGUs, the caravan was able to answer queries and concerns from Agriculturists, Local Engineers, Local Planners and Local Government Operations Officers who are in the lead of the GPBP implementation.

It was also an opportunity for LGUs to identify the lacking requirements and fast track the download of allocated budget.
