Catbalogan celebrates Elderly Filipino Week 2018

In accordance with the advocacy of promoting older persons’ rights and welfare, the City Government of Catbalogan through the Catbalogan City Social Welfare & Development Office joined the annual nationwide observance of Elderly Filipino Week (EFW) last October 1-7, with this year’s theme, “Kilalanin at Parangalan: Tagasulong ng Karapatan ng Nakatatanda Tungo sa Lipunang Mapagkalinga.”

The theme is a take-off from the 2018 theme of the United Nations International Day for Older Persons (UNIDOP) which is a tribute to individuals, groups and older people around the world who dedicate their lives to championing older persons’ rights.

“Makalilipay pag nakaka-upod ko aton mga Lolo ngan Lola dinhi ha Catbalogan kay kamagtam-is ngan tinuod it mga tawa, mga hangkop nga nagpapaabat han ira ungod nga gugma. Damo nga salamat.” City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan shares.

This annual event is mandated by virtue of Proclamation No. 470 issued on September 26, 1994, which aims to increase public awareness on the different issues concerning the older persons’ sector.
