Catbalogan Children’s Congress 2019

Coinciding with the 2019 National Children’s Month Celebration this whole month of November, the City Government of Catbalogan through the Catbalogan City Social Welfare & Development Office (CSWDO) organized a Children’s Congress last November 26, 2019 at Provincial Covered Court, Catbalogan City.

One of the highlights of the congress was the State of the Children’s Report by no less than City Mayor Dexter Uy, which he reported on how this administration have implemented various programs, projects and activities centered on the four (4) rights of children, namely: participation, development, protection, and survival.

City Mayor Dexter shared that “Amo ini an mga magkadurudilain na mga programa… Pero diri ini an ultimo nga solusyon para makakahatag kita hin mauupay nga kabubuwason han aton kabataan, kundi an importante han ngatanan an pag-giya han kabataan han tagsa-tagsa nga kag-anak nira nga kon diin asya an una nga naghahatag hin edukasyon ngan maupay nga pamatasan han aton panimalay para maging usa nga maupay nga molupyo.”

The celebration of National Children’s Month is pursuant to Republic Act No. 10661 or the “National Children’s Month Act” and this year marks the 30th anniversary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UN CRC), which commemorates the adoption of UN CRC last November 20, 1989.
