Catbalogan City prepares for National Arts Month in February

In preparation for the 2022 National Arts Month (NAM) celebration in February, the City Government of Catbalogan headed by City Mayor Dexter Uy through the City Tourism, Culture, Arts & Information Office (CTCAIO) and the City Youth Development Office (CYDO) facilitated a meeting earlier today, January 18, 2022 among identified partners and stakeholders.

Select experts from seven (7) fields of arts are being tapped for a seminar workshop to be conducted next month among young and talented Catbaloganons covering the fields of music, dance, theater, visual, film, literary, and photography.

Present during said convergence meeting were the Co-Chairs of the City Tourism Council (CTC) and the Local Culture and Arts Council (LCAC) who will be spearheading the activities for the said celebration.

Anchored on the 2022 NAM theme of “Sining ng Pag-asa”, the simultaneous trainings are geared towards equipping these young talents through the capacity building opportunity as well as to further the advocacy of cultural protection and preservation through arts as a source and expression of hope and on how arts improves our community life as Filipinos.

“Apisar hini nga pandemya, usa nga butang nga nag-uusa ha aton como Catbaloganon amo an aton kultura ngan kinahanglan naton ipadukwag ngan ipasamwak ini,” Mayor Dexter shares.The annual celebration started with the signing of Presidential Proclamation No. 683 declaring February of every year as National Arts Month as the Philippines recognizes culture and art in different forms.Derecho Uswag Catbalogan!
