Catbalogan featured on international newsletter for LGUs

Catbalogan City, being a new member of the United Cities and Local Governments Asia-Pacific (UCLG ASPAC) was recently featured on its semi-annual newsletter circulated among its members and partner agencies across Asia and the Pacific.

Five articles were originally submitted that covered many of the completed and on-going projects of the city but only two were officially chosen and included in the said newsletter.

The said two articles were on fish hunting to fish farming project, which was also submitted to TAP or Transformative Actions Program organized by ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability; and the recently-concluded Manaragat Festival with a sidelight of the Quadricentennial Celebration in 2016.

Through the said membership of Catbalogan City, Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan was able to attend the Asia Pacific Conference in Wakatobi, Indonesia last September 05-07, 2015 and the ASEAN Mayors Forum last September 8-10, 2015 in Makassar, Indonesia.

UCLG ASPAC is the regional section of UCLG, a worldwide association of local government organizations that dates back to 1913 and is the only local government organization recognized by the United Nations. The Asia and Pacific region is the biggest of the eight sections in UCLG with linkages to more than 7,000 local governments.
