Catbalogan has new evacuation center

And the biggest evacuation center in Samar island is officially open in Catbalogan City!

Funded by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) through the previous Bottom-Up Budgeting (BuB) amounting to P16.9 million and counter-parted by the City Government of Catbalogan with P16 million in three (3) phases through the initiatives of then City Mayor and now City Councilor Stephany Uy-Tan, this new evacuation center that can accommodate more than 400 persons is located at Barangay Payao where other government facilities of the city are being constructed positioned as a government center of the city.

The said facility was officially turned-over last July 16, 2019 by DILG Provincial Director Judy Batulan and City Local Government Operations Officer Marlon Camilon to the city government represented by no less than City Mayor Dexter Uy and Liga ng mga Barangay Federation President, Barangay Chair Edward Uy.

“Ine nga evacuation center usa la han mga imprastraktura nga guintindog ha North Center ha Barangay Payao nga an panuyuanan hine nga center amo an paghatag temporaryo nga uukyan han aton mga pamilya nga maapektuhan ha oras han mga kalamidad,” Mayor Uy shares.

The said area houses several facilities that will soon to be opened and institutionalized such as the Bahay Pag-asa Center, the new DepEd City Division Building, the Eastern Visayas Regional Science High School, Infirmary Clinic and other government facilities to be more responsive to the needs of Catbaloganons.
