Happening on September 12, 13 and 14, 2018 right here in Catbalogan City, the Office of the Assistant Secretary for the Visayas in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture (DA) Regional Field Office VIII will be conducting two (3) major activities:

The ‘Gulayan sa Likod Bahay’ is a national program of the department geared towards increasing food availability and affordability, create a cleaner and greener environment, and encourage healthy lifestyle for the urban dwellers.

The livestock activity is specifically a ‘Consultative Workshop on Enhancement of Forage and Pasture Management for Sustainable Goat Farming’ is aimed at enhancing the knowledge of the participants in goat farming and to promote advance technologies in developing and increasing goat management and production in the region.

Lastly, the ‘Food Safety Caravan’ is an ongoing campaign of the department among urban centers aimed at promoting awareness on Republic Act 10611 or the ‘Food Safety Act of 2013’ as a shared responsibility of ensuring safety supply of food of not only of the government but among food retailers and vendors as well.

This activity is being led by no less than Atty.
