The Youth for Peace Katbalaugan Chapter hosted the 1st Regional Meeting, Strategic Planning and Assessment 2017 of Youth for Peace Philippines, Inc. Eastern Visayas (YFPPI) last February 25-26, 2017 at SP Session Hall at City Hall and Multi-Purpose Building at Camp Lukban, Brgy. Maulong, Catbalogan City.
The regional meeting was attended by 35 delegates from the 5 provinces of Eastern Visayas region together with the Civil Military Officers from every unit of the 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army.
Its objective is to convene all existing YFPPI organizations, assess the challenges and to come up with an annual plan for 2017.
The Youth for Peace Philippines organizations here in Eastern Visayas were the outcome of the Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) initiated by the Philippine Army and supported by the respected municipalities and cities while the Youth for Peace Katbalaugan Chapter is the outcome of the YLS supported by Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan since 2012.
Said regional meeting was fully supported by Mayor Step as part of her commitment towards the development of young people wherein she herself was a product of various youth trainings and workshops by non-government organizations like FPOP-Samar and WARAYA, which is a partner of this activity.
The activity were sponsored by the City Government of Catbalogan in partnership with the 8th Infantry Division, Philippine Army and supported by the City Youth Development Office, Waray-Waray Youth Advocates (WARAYA) and Junior Chamber International, Catbalogan Balud, Inc.
