Catbalogan hotels receive authority to operate

Responding to the urgent need for coordination as select hotels receive go signal to operate, a meeting was organized by the city’s Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) in coordination with City Tourism, Culture, Arts & Information Office (CTCAIO) today, June 20, 2020 at Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall.

Said meeting discussed the accreditation process by the DOT Eastern Visayas especially for accommodation establishments who are have not processed yet including the new requirement to secure authority to operate with DOT prior to operation as required for places under quarantine protocol.

Also discussed were concerns on accepting locally stranded individuals (LSIs) and returning overseas Filipino workers (ROFWs) and the procedures and health protocols to be strictly observed by establishments.

As of yesterday, eight (8) hotels/resorts were issued with certificate of authority to operate by DOT8 and as such, may now accommodate bookings of guests provided that establishments must practice health protocols and operation shall be at 50% Operational Capacity only since Catbalogan City is still under Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ).

Despite having nine (9) positive cases of COVID-19 in the city who were returning residents and are currently isolated at quarantine facilities, the local government is in full efforts to contain the possible spread of the virus while continuously assisting LSIs and ROFWs as they head back home while maintaining strict quarantine protocols.

For inquiries on hotel accreditation, you may call CTCAIO at 0917-836-1495.
