Catbalogan joins the 2017 National Crime Prevention Week

The first week of September of every year is celebrated as the National Crime Prevention Week pursuant to Presidential Proclamation No. 461 dated August 31, 1994 enjoining all government agencies and instrumentalities of government to evolve and implement projects and activities that focus on prevention as an approach in combating criminality.

This year’s theme is “Pamayanang Mapagmasid, Kapayapaan ang Maihahatid” focusing on information drive and awareness on the vital role of every stakeholder in crime prevention through building collaborative partnership among the community, law enforcement agencies and local executives that gears to the full implementation of the Community and Service-Oriented Policing (CSOP) System.

The programme aims to promote equitable access to justice for the poor and disadvantaged people and of impunity for major crimes, particularly extra-judicial killing and enforced disappearances.

The enhanced framework of CSOP aims to build and strengthen collaborative partnerships between the police, community and local executives to promote peace and order, ensure public safety and strengthen local government for the effective delivery of basic services to the citizenry.
