Catbalogan prepares for incoming typhoon Chedeng

As Tropical Cyclone #ChedengPH nears the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan called for an emergency internal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) this morning, April 01, 2015 at her office to prepare for the possible hit.

Present during the meeting were PAG-ASA Catbalogan’s Chief Meteorological Officer Eduardo Dela Cruz, PNP Chief of Police Carlito Abriz, CDRRMC Action Officer Eliot Lopez, Jr., CLGOO Jose Obrero, City Health Officer Dr. Gerarda Tizon, City Agriculturist Daniel Daguman, and other representatives of concerned agencies and offices.

Chedeng has now been elevated to a Super Typhoon according to US Navy and Air Force’s Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) as it packs maximum sustained winds of 205 kph and gustiness of up to 240kph.

A follow-up meeting is scheduled this afternoon with all barangay chairs to coordinate with the early deployment of food supplies and to conduct information dissemination among residents at flood and landslide-prone areas.
