Catbalogan ranks first for 2014 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance

For the year 2014, Catbalogan City ranked first in the Samar Province and was conferred with the 2014 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance by the Department of Interior and Local Governance (DILG) thru the National Barangay Operations Office and the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) as manifested by the Regional Memorandum No. 2015-000006 issued by DILG Regional Director Pedro Noval, Jr. last April 01, 2015.

This forms part of the thrust of the national government geared towards addressing the four broad categories of a child’s right to survival, development, protection, and participation.

Conducted by the Child-Friendly Local Governance Interagency Monitoring Team which is composed of representatives from the Department of Interior and Local Government, DSWD and Department of Education, the CFLGA is a mandatory audit and recognition system on LGUs in producing positive results for children’s well-being based on verifiable and quantifiable criteria and indicators.

Initiated in 2014, DILG and its partner agencies is set to conduct another round of audit for 2015 this April and May until September.
