Catbalogan receives national recognition for cooperative efforts

During the Awarding Ceremony of the 2014 Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Gawad Parangal held last October 16, 2014 at Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City, The City Government of Catbalogan through its City Cooperative Office was recognized as a National Nominee for the Best Performing LGU – Cooperative Develpment Office Category after having won as a CDA Regional Winner as endorsed by the CDA Tacloban Extension Office.

City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan received the award along with City Cooperative Officer Vince Eslopor II as one of the five (5) nominees nationwide along with other recognized local government units.

“I would like to commend the effort and passion given by the the head of our City Cooperatives Development Officer Sir Vince and his staff and the cooperatives in Catbalogan. Of course, to Vice Mayor Art Sherwin Art L. Gabon and to our council members, to all our department heads and employees thank you for helping me and doing your part to give better life to our people, to make them feel that we are here for all of them, and to make all of them proud to be Catbaloganons.” Mayor Step shares.

The Gawad Parangal award recognizes cooperatives, local government units, partner organizations and cooperative leaders in recognition of exemplary performance, best practices and good governance and in bringing responsive services to the people and to the community.
