Catbalogan receives regional officials for an EU-funded project

Regional Director Imelda Lacers of the Department of Budget and Management (CBM) and In-Charge of Office (ICO) Teresita Atuel of the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) – Department of Finance along with representatives of the Department of Interior and Local Government, and the National Economic Development Authority paid a courtesy call with City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan last March 30, 2015 as part of its Regional Inter-Agency Team (RIAT) for LGU-PFM 2 “Support to the Local Government Units for More Effective and Accountable Public Financial Management (LGU PFM 2 Project)”.

The City Government of Catbalogan was chosen as one (1) of the focus local government units (LGU) under the said European Union (EU) funded project.

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the achievement of the MDGs and poverty reduction in the Philippines, in line with the 2011-2016 Philippine Development Plan, through improved public finance management (PFM) resulting in improved delivery of basic services by local governments.

It is said to address issues in the PFM system of local governments, which includes revenue generation, budgeting, accounting, auditing, cash management, debt management and public sector reporting on financial operations.
