Catbalogan receives seal of child-friendly for three years in-a-row

Catbalogan City receives 2016 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance (SCFLG) from the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) as awarded by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

Receiving on behalf of the local government was City Social Welfare and Development, Ms. Nida Aroza during the regional awarding held at Tacloban City.

The SCFLG is a recognition system for LGUs that deliver positive results for children’s well being wherein a Child Friendly Local Governance Audit Team otherwise called the Interagency Monitoring Task Force (IMTF) conducts audit among cities and municipalities based on twelve (12) criteria ranging from health, nutrition, school retention and completion, reduction of child labor cases and other exploitations, legislative measures in placed, and many more.

Catbalogan City has consistently received the said seal since 2014 on its very start of implementation anchored on the “Child-Friendly Philippines: A Caring and Protective Society for, by, and with the Children” advocacy and programming framework launched by the said national council.
