Catbaloganon tops 2012 Customs Broker Board Exams

A Catbaloganon has topped the recent Customs Broker Licensure Exams. Kenneth Bernard Navales Bacurio garnered a rating of 92.50% in the exams held last October to emerge on top of the heap in this field and become an inspiration and pride to fellow Catbaloganons.

The list of top ten passers released by the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) showed a very tight and competitive contest. Kenneth, along with another student from Batangas State University with whom he shared the top spot, enjoyed only a .5 % lead over the second placer who garnered a rating of 92%. The third placer had a rating of 90.75%, while the rest in the top ten had a difference of only less than a point between them.

Less than half also passed with flying colors with only 494 out of the original 1,212 exam takers set to take oath at a later date. The CBLE Results were released in October 29, 2012, only two working days after the last day of the examinations. What followed was an outpouring of support and well-wishes, online and out, which made the period of “Undas” seem like a time of celebration for the Bacurio Family.

The news served as a perfect gift for the fresh graduate who celebrated his birthday just last October 24. He was born in 1991 to parents Bernardino Bacurio, the Assistant Provincial Officer of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) – Samar and Lita Bacurio, also an employee of DAR . They currently reside in Purok 7, Brgy. Canlapwas.

The youngest in a brood of four had just earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Customs Administration at the Lyceum of the Philippines University – Manila but he spent his formative years here in Catbalogan City. He finished his elementary education in 2004 at the Catbalogan I District Elementary School and his secondary education in 2008 at the Samar State University.
