CDRRMC convenes and prepares as Typhoon Glenda intensifies

As called for by City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) Chair, Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan convened the CDRRMC today, July 15, 2014 as Tropical Storm Rammasun (Glenda) intensifies to a typhoon.

Glenda is now packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kph and gustiness of up to 150 kph raising Signal Number 3 over Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Northern Samar and Signal Number 2 over Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Masbate, Marinduque, Sourthern part of Quezon, Northern part of Samar, and Northern part of Eastern Samar.

The CDRRMC has prioritized the coastal barangays due to high tide, heavy rainfall and strong winds. Members were identified as part of its deployment plan to prepare for possible evacuation including upland, northern, southern and poblacion barangays.

Relief goods are being prepared by the City Social Welfare and Development Office with the assistance of city departments. The CDRRMC has recommended to Mayor Step for the suspension of classes and work. Mayor Step is set to issue an Executive Order declaring said suspension.

The following schools were identified as evacuation centres in coordination with the City Division:
– Bunu-anan Elementary School
– Samar National School
– Catbalogan I Central
– Salug Elementary School
– Catbalogan III Central
– Catbalogan II Central
– Catbalogan IV Central
– Silanga National High School
– Socorro Elementary School
