City breaks ground for the slaughterhouse infra project

The City of Catbalogan is very much fortunate to be one of the recipients of the National Abattoir Development Project of the National Livestock Program of the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) for the Construction of our City Slaughterhouse as manifested during the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing held last February 27, 2015 at NMIS National Office.

A groundbreaking ceremony was conducted last March 25, 2015 at the actual site of the proposed project at Diversion Road, Barangay Mercedes, this city.

The current City Slaughter House at Barangay Canlapwas averages 20-head daily slaughter of hogs, however said structure is dilapidated and has never underwent any repair or rehabilitation for several underlying factors.

Under this new administration, our City Government is allocating P 8 Million Pesos for the construction of a new slaughterhouse, whose total estimated cost is P 16 Million Pesos. The city is also committed to the creation of a City Meat Inspection Service under the Regulatory Division of the City Veterinary Office.
