City consults food park concessionaires on recent month-long fiesta

“Mas marisyo ngan mas maupay an ka-organize han yana nga month-long kumpara han mga una.”

This was just one of the statements during the consultation meeting of the concessionaires of the recently concluded “Karasa ha Plaza Manaragat Food Park” that operated at the City Plaza from August 1-31, 2018.

Geared towards improving the annual conduct, the meeting held at Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall last September 21, 2018 was organized by the City Tourism, Culture, Arts and Information Office (CTCAIO) who is responsible of the said annual tourism tradition.

The concessionaires suggested that stricter security measures be implemented although lesser incidents of theft and public disturbances were reported compared to the previous years; more portable toilets be installed at the premises; more consistent and coordinated delivery schedules for merchandises especially for beverage companies; more merchandise support such as tables and chairs; and better crowd control especially during major events to ensure that paying customers will still be able to enjoy the shows just like the viewing public at the plaza.

Asked on whether they will still join next year’s food park event, majority of the concessionaires are more than willing but majority of then are hesitant should there be an increase in the rental fees.

This year’s Manaragat Festival Month-long Fiesta Celebration is Catbalogan City’s 15th year already since its first installment in 2004 under the administration of then Mayor Coefredo “Tekwa” Uy and was further improved by now City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan who emphasized tourism as one of her pillars of development.

Mayor Step believes that any tourism program should be sustainable and this can be achieved through an equitable distribution of not only the benefits but also the responsibilities of protection and preserving our assets as well as our heritage.
