CITY CONVENES DISASTER RISK REDUCTION AND MANAGEMENT COUNCIL

The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) met last October 8, 2014 in connection with the city’s preparation of its Annual Investment Plan.

DRRM Action Officer Eliot Lopez, gathered ideas from the different members as to how the council’s 20% fund appropriation should be utilized. Among the primary considerations of the body regarding fund utilization were the procurement of additional rescue equipments, maintenance of the existing rescue vehicles and how to improve the council’s response to emergencies and disasters.

For her part, City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan said that given the positive feedback that the City Government has garnered about their DRRM initiatives, there is then a need to further enhance their services to continue to satisfy the city expectations pertaining to safety, security and disaster preparedness.
