City Disaster and Development Councils jointly convene in preparation for Typhoon Yolanda

In preparation for the incoming Typhoon Yolanda, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) and the City Development Council (CDC) jointly convened last November 06, 2013 at Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall.

Called for by City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan with the assistance of CDRRM Officer Eliot Lopez Jr., the meeting was attended by majority of the Barangay Chairs, CSO Representatives and Civic Groups to ensure a consultative and collective approach. Part of the meeting was the identification of evacuation centers to cover clusters of barangays and the identification of command post, contact details and responsible individuals or groups.

Through CDC Resolution No. 06 approved unanimously by the body, the City has realigned some programs of the 5% Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund as identified in the 2013 Annual Investment Plan. An amount of P200,000.00 was added to the purchase of supplies and materials for office and emergencies to a new total of P700,000.00. Moreover, additional P100,000.00 was added to the procurement of luminous vests, boots, raincoats, flashlights, emergency lamps, ropes, life jackets, stretchers, whistle, handcuffs, axe, extra batteries, megaphone and other accessories now totaling to P400,000.00.

Said resolution along with other resolutions was endorsed to The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Catbalogan City, which later convened on the afternoon.
