City Hall cancels Christmas Party; joins Toy Drive for Children

Catbalogan City had been fortunate enough to come out of the ordeal brought by Super Typhoon Yolanda unscathed and with our resources and facilities still intact. Despite the many losses and destruction, we are left to hope of better days.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, let us be reminded of its true essence and meaning – the spirit of giving and sharing to those who are in need.

City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan through Memorandum Circular No. 72 series of 2013 cancels the conduct of the City Hall Christmas Party in consideration of the recent tragedy brought by Super Typhoon Yolanda and in solidarity with our suffering brothers and sisters.

This Christmas season, we hope to take the initial steps towards the healing of the children in affected areas by spreading the spirit of compassion, happiness and sharing by launching the “Pasko Caravan: 9 Days of Joy and Smile”, this December 15 to 23, 2013. This 9-day affair will feature a mini-concert featuring various artists, a toy-giving moment with Santa Claus, a puppet show and medical mission; to be held in various typhoon-affected municipalities.

While we are aware that toys and cards do not count as pressing necessities, we still believe that through a small act of giving or a few words of comfort, we are filling a deeper hunger for hope and that by doing so, we are helping them move on from this incident and grow up with a more positive outlook in life.

Hence, the City Hall Employees donated used and new toys to be distributed during the said 9-day Christmas Caravan, which was collected by the Office of the City Mayor.

Let us share the spirit of Christmas by extending any form of donation or assistance to our #SalbarSamar, our official relief operation initiative. For inquiries, please visit the Information Desk at the City Hall Lobby.

Interested individuals and organizations may still donate through #SalbarSamar and inquiries may be done with the following numbers:
