City inks MOA with DILG RO8 for enhanced BPLS

The City Government of Catbalogan represented by City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Local Government Academy of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) represented by DILG Regional Director Pedro A. Noval last November 11, 2013 at DILG Regional Office VIII, Tacloban City for the RSP BPLS Program.

The Regulatory Simplification Project (RSP) for Enhanced Business Permit and Licensing System (BPLS) Program for LGUs is geared to support and improve LGU ‘s regulatory systems and processes aimed at encouraging investments and increasing local revenue, which shall ultimately result to more and better service delivery to the constituents.

Although the city has been implementing the BPLS, the program of the DILG will provide an enhanced and much faster system for the issuance of permits and licenses that will encourage more applicants and thereby increase necessary revenues.

The simplification program is good for the private sector, good for the LGUs and for the society in general. It is aimed at helping businesses start, grow, thrive and expand by ensuring that the procedure is simple, predictable and transparent.

Said partnership with the DILG is part of Mayor Step’s thrust to create a climate conducive to local investment and businesses.

Present during the said MOA signing were City Local Government Operations Officer Mr. Jose Obrero and other DILG regional staffs.
