City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan joins other Mayors on sustainable environment

City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan graces the cover of the ICLEI World Congress 2015 Report alongside Mayor Won Soon Park of Seoul Metropolitan Government and other mayors of member cities after attending said congress last April 08-12, 2015 in Seoul, Republic of Korea.

Aside from Mayor Step, City Vice Mayor Art Sherwin Gabon and City Councilor Beethoven Bermejo also attended the said congress that takes place every three years, which provides member cities the opportunity for peer exchanges, knowledge-sharing, capacity building and on-site visits and exhibits.

ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is an international association of local and metropolitan governments dedicated to sustainable development. ICLEI provides technical consulting, training and information services to build capacity, share knowledge, and support local government in the implementation of sustainable development at the local level.

Catbalogan City joined ICLEI in early of 2014 in their ACCRN Project or the Asian Cities Climate Change Resilience Network alongside Philippine cities of Baguio, Batangas, Makati, Marikina, Naga, Quezon, Sta. Rosa, Tuguegarao and San Fernando, La Union.

This initiative is part of the current administration of Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan’s thrust of opening the city to the world through networking and partnership to learn from big cities and neighboring local governments to implement sustainable projects for all Catbaloganons.
