City Meet 2012 unites students through sports
The Division of Catbalogan City, Department of Education with its fresh mandate after the controversial citihood pursuit of Catbalogan regains momentum in 2012 with the highlight of this year’s Catbalogan City Athletic Association (CCAA) Meet on November 14 – 17, 2012.
The opening of the 2012 CCAA Meet was held at the Samar Sports Complex last November 14, 2012. Representing in behalf of City Mayor Coefredo “Tekwa” Uy and the City Government of Catbalogan, City Councilor Stephany Uy-Tan delivered a resounding message of unity through sports among students and underscored the support of the government towards youth development.Dr. Edita S. De Veyra, OIC Schools Division Superintendent of the Division of Catbalogan City, Department of Education congratulated all the students, coaches, and schools’ officials for the continuing strong support towards the Division and the local government.With 18 sporting events at stake
categorized into Individuals/Singles, Double/Mixed, Relay and Team, 13 schools vied for the different medals and the championships for this year’s City Meet.
The 13 Schools/Clusters are: Catbalogan I District, Catbalogan II District, Catbalogan III District, Catbalogan IV District, Catbalogan V District, St. Mary Child Development Center, Samar College, St. Mary’s College of Catbalogan, Samar State University, Samar National School, Catbalogan National Comprehensive High School, Cluster I (Silanga National High School and Antonio G. Tuazon National High School), and Cluster II (Guinsorongan National High School, Pangdan National High School and Eastern Visayas Regional Science High School).
The 18 Sporting Events are: Archery, Arnis, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Boxing, Chess, Football, Gymnastics, Sepak Takraw, Sipa, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwando, Tennis and Volleyball.
