City partners with Philippine Army for the June 12 celebration

Mayor Step meets with 8th Infantry Division Philippine Army Officials in preparation for the 116th Philippine Independence Day this June 12, 2014.

Pursuant to DILG Memorandum Circular No. 2014-55 issued by Secretary Mar Roxas enjoining all LGUs to commemorate the historical date, LGU Catbalogan City in partnership with the Philippine Army is set to conduct an Independence Day Program through a Flag Raising Ceremony and a One-Day Kinetic and Static Display at the City Plaza.

The said activity is expected to be participated in by city officials, employees, barangay officials, teachers and representatives from the DepEd Catbalogan City Division and others.

Commencing at 08:00 AM, the exhibit will end at 05:00 PM through a mini-concert in celebration of the 116th Philippine Independence Day.

According to the National Historical Commission of the Philippines, this year’s theme is “Pagsunod sa Yapak ng mga Dakilang Pilipino, Tungo sa Malawakan at Permanenteng Pagbabago” or “Following the Footsteps of Great Filipinos, Towards Widespread and Lasting Change”.

This year’s partnership echoes the theme considering that our armed forces are our modern heroes and through an inclusive, participative and empowered governance as espoused and advocated by Mayor Step, lasting change can then be achieved.
