City Plaza Improvement Project

To be funded by the Green Green Green Program of the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) with P12,000,000.00 and to be counterparted by the city government with P10,000,000.00 for a total project cost of P22,000,000.00, the project for the improvement of the city plaza is geared towards developing public open spaces among cities in the Philippines.

Reflected in the foregoing plans are the as-built plan; site development plan; utilities plan for the water system, drainage system, electrical layout, electrical riser diagram; and the planting plan.

Major features of the project are the installation of greeneries in the inner portion of the plaza as well as vertical gardens behind the stage, the installation of water fountains and lighting fixtures, which will further highlight our very own Rizal Statue, one of Catbalogan City’s cultural heritage.

The Green Green Green Program or the Local Government Support Fund – Assistance to Cities of the DBM aims to help city governments improve livability of urban areas through various activities or methods like landscaping, turfing, and tree planting, among others purposes.

The project is said to commence this month and estimated to be completed towards middle of next year complementing the national government’s “Build Build Build” program and strongly supported by the administration of City Mayor Dexter Uy.
