City receives high status award from Cooperative Dev’t Authority

Catbalogan City was awarded the Best Performing Local Government Unit – Cooperative Development Office last October 10, 2014 by the Regional Coooperative Development Council of Region VIII (RCDC 8 ) and the Cooperative Development Authority – Tacloban Extension Office (CDA-TEO) during its BIR-CDA-Cooperative Sector Convergence.

In celebration of the “Cooperative Month” and to recognize the major involvement of cooperatives as partners of the government in nation building, the CDA Gawad Parangal 2014 Regional Winners gave recognition to Most Outstanding Cooperatives, Most Outstanding Cooperative Leaders and Best Performing LGU.

For Eastern Visayas Region, Catbalogan City was bestowed the said “high status” award for its exemplary performance and bringing responsive services to their member, affiliates and the community.

“Ini nga award usa nga pagpamatuod nga aada kita hin tadong nga pamunuan ngan nagpapakita nga kun nagkakaurusa kita para han kaupayan han aton mga molupyo, damo it aton makakab-utan” Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan shares.

Receiving the award along with Mayor Step were City Cooperative Officer Vince Eslopor and John Ric Montejo Tan.

In 2013, LGU Catbalogan City has been nominated for the same award but only this year that it was able to receive the coveted award for the regional level. The City Government believes that it has more to prove and has more to achieve as reinforced by the current administration of Mayor Step of an inclusive, participative, transparent and empowered local government.
