Food Festival in Catbalogan City unites food and fiesta lovers

2013 San Bartolome Hermanidad was led by Retired Supreme Court Justice Hon. Antonio Eduardo Nachura and her wife Conchita Sison Nachura who organized the Food Festival last August 19, 2013, which served as the commencement to the week-long celebration in honor of Senor San Bartolome, Catbalogan City’s Patron Saint.

The activity, which was co-organized by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Samar Provincial Office gathered many local and budding entrepreneurs of different delicacies, food and native products not only in Catbalogan City but from other municipalities as well in Samar. Aimed at showcasing the many popular and traditional products in the province, the event was attended by several local-regional and national media partners as well as National Agencies.

In behalf of the City Government of Catbalogan, City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan was present to extend the greetings as well as to commend the initiative to unite various ends for a common purpose. Linking her message to this year’s Manaragat Festival Theme “Catbalogan Higugma-a Ta! Unity through Culture and Traditions”, Mayor Step vouched to continue the Food Festival as a yearly tradition of the city not only to showcase the unique culture of Catbalogan but to encourage local entrepreneurs to continue on with the culinary traditions while enabling them live better lives through said livelihood.

The said launching was followed by an Inter-School Cooking Competition and many activities are slated to celebrate the week-long festivity. The food festival will be ongoing at the Provincial Covered Court until the fiesta day on August 24, 2013. Definitely, it’s more fun in Catbalogan!
