Green Green Green Project breaks ground in Catbalogan

The city government breaks ground today, September 25, 2019 for the improvement project of the city plaza, which is funded by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Regional Office VIII as part of the Local Government Support Fund – Assistance to Cities or Green Green Green Program.

Total project funding is P22,000,000.00 wherein the project grant from DBM is 12 Million and the city’s counterpart is 10 Million.

“Green, Green, Green,” is a unique assistance program that aims to make the country’s 145 cities more livable and sustainable through the development of public open spaces and is a component of the Duterte administration’s massive national infrastructure development program, “Build, Build, Build”.

The funding aims to help city governments create forest parks, arboretum, and botanical gardens; improve livability of urban areas through various activities and methods such as landscaping, turfing, and tree planting; and transform streetscapes through installation of eco-friendly street furniture, fixtures, and shading.

City Mayor Dexter Uy was personally present during the said groundbreaking along with City Councilor Stephany Uy-Tan and members of the City Tourism Council (CTC).
