Kamurasak han Kadagatan Maqueda Bay Rites 2017

As part of the 2017 Manaragat Festival Month-long Fiesta Celebration, Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan organized the “Kamurasak han Kadagatan: Maqueda Bay Rites” last August 23, 2017 that gave highlight to Maqueda Bay with a Thanksgiving Mass and was later followed with a turn-over of of motorboats and fishing gears to fisherfolks association from several barangays.

“Kaangayan nga magpasalamat kita kan Señor San Bartolome labi na gud han aton makagarahom nga Ginoo han mga grasya nga nakarawat naton — an dagat nga amo an aton kinabuhi ngan aada an aton panginabuhi,” Mayor Step shares.

The City Government of Catbalogan has deemed it proper to share the celebration and recognize our “manaragat” or fisherfolks in this festival that we annually conduct.

“Kamurasak” or bountiful is the binisaya term that best describes one of the objectives of the Manaragat Festival, to bring back the abundance of our marine environment, which can be achieved through its protection and preservation.

The Manaragat Festival has been annually celebrated every whole month of August since 2004 mainly to celebrate the feast day of Patron Saint, Señor San Bartolome every 24th of August but later grew to a bigger cause of environmental protection and cultural preservation while promoting Catbalogan City to the world.
