Karasa Katbalogan features culinary traditions

To start tomorrow, August 05, 2018 at the City Plaza, fifteen (15) schools in Catbalogan are set to present on different schedules their interpretations of the various and rich culinary traditions of Catbalogan City.

Specifically, primary schools will depict the five (5) food categories, namely: SURA (main course), POSTRE (dessert), ABRE GANA (appetizers), MERIENDA (snack), and SUMSUMAN (food eating during drinking sessions).

For our fifteen (15) secondary and tertiary schools, they will be presenting various seafoods preparations, namely: PRITO (fried), KINILAW (deboned fish cured in vinegar), TINOLA (stew), HINATUKAN (with coconut milk), BULAD/BAROL (salted and dried under the sun), PAKSIW (cooked in vinegar), PINAMARA (with sauce left to simmer and dry), PINUTOS (wrapped in leaves), SINUGBA (grilled), and KINUNOT (flaked from the bones).

With our love for food and cultural merriment, this year’s Manaragat Festival is yet another opportunity to promote the heritage of the city through various activities while advocating for the protection and preservation of our environment and our culture.

Catch their presentations on the schedules provided every night as part of the 2018 Manaragat Festival Month-long Fiesta Celebration.
