Representatives of various agencies making up the City Council for the Protection of Children/ City Early Childhood Care and Development Coordinating Committee (CCPC/CECCDCC) met today, July 17, 2012 for a workshop to draft and finalize the City Action Plan for 2013.This shall be incorporated into the city’s annual budget for next year and comprises one percent 1% of the same.

The said plan is a consolidated input from various members of said council with regards to the city’s activities, programs, projects and services for children. It was designed to address the four basic rights of children, namely survival rights, development rights, protection rights and participation rights. These rights are specified in the 1989 Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) in which, the Philippines is one of the signatories.

Also serving as guide for the council in plan formulation is the Child 21 or Philippine National Framework for Plan Development for Children, which is a set of goals for every Filipino Children by year 2025.

The daylong activity was facilitated by the City Local Government Operations Officer, Mr. Jose Obrero. Those in attendance also included Hon. Stephany Uy-Tan, Chair of the City Council’s Committee on Family, Women and Children; Mrs. Nida Aroza, City Social Welfare and Development Officer; Dr. Gerarda Tizon, City Health Officer; Engr. Arnaldo Aroza, City Planning and Development Officer; Mrs. Adelaida Lamadrid, City Budget Officer; Atty. Aileen Forteza, City Legal Officer; Dr. Edita S. De Veyra, City Schools Division Superintendent; Mrs. Annie Mustacisa, Assistant City Social Welfare and Development Officer, Mrs. Elizabeth Lim, Assistant City Treasurer and PO1 Jobelle Magdasoc, PNP Focal Person for Gender and Development.
