Mayor Step inspects parola for a priority tourism project

As part of the 2013 Bottom-Up Budgeting as an identified Priority Poverty Reduction Project, The City Government of Catbalogan is set to embark a tourism project that will convert the current light tower at Barangay Mercedes into a view deck that will host several restaurants/snack inns that is expected to generate livelihood and employment opportunities among Catbaloganons.

Mayor Step along with Catbalogan Coast Guard Station Commander Lowie Palines, City Tourism Officer Raul Reyes, City ENRO Edgar Guya, City DRRMC Action Officer Eliot Lopez, and Barangay Mercedes Captain Justito Uy, inspected the said location last July 08, 2014.

Seafront Tourism & Entrepreneurships Park is Mayor Stephany Uy Tan’s vision to rehabilitate the historical area known then as Sulse and Miramar Park (Lover’s Lane) during the Japanese Time. This was submitted to DOT-8 BuB (Bottom up Budgeting) program last year 2013. The funding was approved and will be done this year. It opened up so many opportunities and linkages – the Coast Guard (Lighthouse), The TELOF (Area), Department of Tourism (Funding), National Commission for the Culture & the Arts (NCCA) for its heritage value, Entrepreneurship for livelihood & job creation in the area.
