MAYOR STEP OFFICIATES FIRST MASS WEDDING

Imagine an oath to share love and life – multiplied more than two hundred fold. This was the exact scenario at the City Plaza as City Mayor Stephany Uy – Tan officiated in a mass civil wedding ceremony last February 10, 2013.

Conducting mass civil weddings have become one of the services of the City Government particularly for couples who wish to tie the knot without the common financial burden attached to it. This however, did not prevent the organizers from making the event more special for the beneficiaries. An all white theme was adopted in arranging the City Plaza. In lieu of the traditional wedding cake, the couples shared cupcakes – with red wine – as a symbol of togetherness.

vows during this event dubbed as “Kasalang Bayan”, which was made possible through the joint efforts of the City Government, Local Civil Registrar and the barangay officials. City Vice Mayor Art Sherwin Gabon and City Councilor Coefredo T. Uy stood as Principal Sponsors. City Civil Registrar Ofelia Royandoyan was also present as head of the office that organized the activity.

This is the first mass wedding that the lady mayor officiated in since she assumed office.
