Mayor Step shares local experience on urbanization

Catbalogan City thru Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan was invited by UNACLA as one of the speakers in one of the discussions in the 5th World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders in Bogota, Colombia as a speaker to share our experience as a thriving city in the Philippines and being a member of UCLG ASPAC.

“We are indeed very honored to be ranked among big and prominent cities in Asia and in the world who are considers urbanization as a challenge towards sustainable development” Mayor Step shares.

“Tungod hini nga mga oportunidad, damu pa nga mga assistance nga mahahatag ha aton tikang ha mga international organizations both technically and financially” she further states.

UNACLA or United Nations Advisory Committee of Local Authorities is a high-level group of selected mayors and representatives of local authority associations especially chosen on the basis of their local, national and international commitment to engage in the implementation of the Habitat Agenda.

Adopted by 171 countries, the political document – dubbed the Habitat Agenda – that contained over 100 commitments and 600 recommendations came out of the “city summit” in Istanbul, Turkey as the second conference of the UN that dealt on the challenge of urbanization.
