The City Government of Catbalogan treated its young constituents to a day of fun and games last October 23, 2009 at the City Plaza in celebration of the Children’s Month Celebration this October. Dedicating a day solely for the children’s sector was intended bring attention to their needs and give the needed support to ensure their full development, as expressed in this year’s theme, “Bright Child: Proteksyon ng Bata, Pananagutan ng Bansa.”

The children who participated were mostly enrolled in the city’s public daycare program, but also joining in the fun were children from the Fun and Learn Daycare School. Daycare workers and staff of the City Social Welfare and Development Office guided their charges throughout the daylong activity, which consisted of parlor games in the morning and a short program during the late afternoon, which was graced by City Councilor Herminia Cabral who gave an inspirational message. While the morning activities aimed to harness the children’s social and interaction skills, the program during the later part of the afternoon was intended to discover the the potentials of each child.
