Regional Science & Technology Week in Catbalogan

The City Government of Catbalogan through City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tanis assisting the Samar State University’s hosting of the 2018 Regional Science and Technology Week (RSTW) in Catbalogan City from December 12-14, 2018 led by the Department of Science & Technology (DOST)Regional Office VIII.

RSTW is conducted annually to recognize the contribution of science and technology in the development of the country and garner support from the public and private institutions for its sustainable development.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Science for the People: Innovation for Collective Prosperity” and said event will serve as the first activity in Eastern Visayas for the newly-appointed DOST Secretary Fortunato T. De la Peña and is expected to welcome as well Undersecretary for Regional Operations, Brenda L. Nazareth Manzano along with DOST Regional Director, Edgardo Esperancilla.

Highlighted in the three-day celebration are the forum on the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP) and the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) Summit.

Catch the various fora at the SSU Gymnasium and Convention Center during the three-day convergence of technological breakthroughs and scientific researches around the region.
