#SalbarSamar donates relief goods to Marabut, Samar
Willing to personally turn-over the goods and see for herself the situation at Marabut, Mayor Step instead sent City Vice Mayor Art L. Gabon and City Councilor Coefredo Tekwa Uy due to
equally important operations and concerns at the City Hall.
The following items were turned-over to the said LGU:
– 112 boxes of 1 liter Nature’s Spring Mineral Water
– 125 sacks of relief goods (8 packs / sack)
– 50 boxes of lighting match
– 40 packs of candles
After Super Typhoon Yolanda struck the province, Marabut was one of the municipalities in the Province of Samar that was badly hit. The following statistics were reported by their Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) and their Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC):
– 7,344 number of households affected
– 400 sick patients
– 24 casualties
– 2,058 injured
– 8 missing
Despite the help extended by Mayor Step and The City Government of Catbalogan, Marabut is still in need of relief goods, kitchen utensils, tents, medicines, water, flashlights or candles, and most importantly stress debriefing among its personnel and its constituents. Mayor Ortillo appeals for the generous donors to aid their people as they strive to make better their future one day at a time.
