Second day of international climate change conference ends with rich sharing

The second and last day of the “Kasugbong Kalibutan: International Climate Change Conference” was highlighted by renowned speakers from various relevant fields such as on urban planning, disaster resiliency, environmental management, educational support, and even on research on development.

Leading the list of speakers was Architect Felino Palafox, Jr. who is a world-renowned urban planner; Atty. Violeta Seva who is an advocate of ‘Making Cities Resilient Campaign’ of UNISDR; Ms. Eugenia Bautista of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Office – Regional Office 8; Ms. Eden Dadap of the Department of Education – Regional Office 8; and Ms. Hillary Diane Andales of Philippine Science High School (PSHS) Eastern Visayas Campus who bested 11,000 young learners from 178 countries to bag the third annual Breakthrough Junior Challenge (BJC) Prize, earning over P20 million in prizes.

Catbalogan City hosted the two-day conference in partnership with Team 54 Project and The Climate Reality Project from December 07-08, 2017 at M Grand Royale Resort gathering more than 200 attendees from different sectors and fields advocating towards addressing climate change.

City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan further highlighted the conference with the launching of the ‘Localization of the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs)’, which served as a finale during the Mayor’s Night at the City Plaza.
