volunteers who originally joined, only 23 remained for the second day of the Urban and Collapsed Structures Search and Rescue (UCSSAR) Training yesterday, September 17, 2013.

The day’s drills and exercises simulated disaster scenarios like vehicular accidents and collapsed structures to give them an idea on how to respond and act in such cases.

These were also meant to teach them the value of teamwork and the importance of constant area assessment when conducting rescue operations. This is to ensure the safety not just of the victims but also that of the rescuers so that they can successfully conduct the rescue operation.
