Woman Barangay Chair localizes solid waste management program

One (1) barangay chair of Catbalogan City officially launched its barangay solid waste management program this month just in time for the 2018 National Women’s Month Celebration — a timely event where women are indeed making change work for fellow women.

Barangay New Mahayag Chair Loudivina Jabinal showcased their initiatives that incorporated disaster risk reduction and management with climate change adaptation into their solid waste management program with the use of creative materials and innovative methods that involved various sectors of their barangay.

City Mayor Stephany Uy-Tan who is a strong advocate of the localization of the sustainable development goals congratulated the said barangay for taking the lead and for the continued commitment.

“Natuod ako nga mayda pa kita mahihimo para mas sustenable it aton lugar pinaagi hin aktibo nga pagpartisipar ngan an ungod nga gugma naton ha aton Ciudad makikita kon paano kita mabulig para mas naging maupay ini,” she further shares.

Also present during the launching were Fr. Cesar Aculan and Fr. Guimo Alorro of the Social Action Center who assisted in the said project of Barangay New Mahayag along with City Environment and Natural Resources Officer, Mr. Edgar Guya and City GAD Council member representing the women sector, Ms. Myra Gay Tambor.
